E3 2011 Halo 4 trailer

Well E3 is upon us again, and that means it's the week of games, fun, and nerdgasms. And while I will probably not be able to post EVERY video, I will post what catches my eye. Like Halo 4 for example...

Well Bungie wrapped up their Halo trilogy, but that doesn't mean that Microsoft doesn't have plans for arguably the "Flagship" of the X-Box name. And thus the trailer to Halo 4 was revealed today. Check it out and let me know what you think.

  3. um, Jeremy, please understand when they say 'flagship' they mean platform game only on the X-box, its not an opinion its a statistic. not to burst your bubble or anything, but just because you hate Halo doesn't mean it's a terrible game, maybe theres a reason why millions of people love Halo... Just a thought (P.S. I love it for the story)
but I respect your opinion, and I hope you respect mine!

  4. As you may have guessed, though

I'm pretty frickin excited! It'l be great to see a new trilogy
and for those who believe Microsoft is now just milking the franchise, keep in mind this side story was obviously planned with the legendary ending of Halo 3

  5. Me and friend were talking about this after we saw the trailer and this is one of my responses in our talk. this pretty much explains how I felt after hearing about the halo 4 announcement: "No its a reflection on how the games industry and even the movie industry would rather focus on they're own franchises than come up with and support new ip's. and no I didn't just come to that conclusion just from watching the Halo 4 trailer, I came to that conclusion when I realized they were making a 4th one (before watching the trailer about the rainbows and whales.) Remember when Halo 3 was coming and the whole phrase of "Finish the fight!" I wonder if the studio just abandoned that. Just to be clear I am not hating Halo 4, hell it could be the best damn video game to come out, I was just expressing my opinions about the industry not letting franchises go and going on to new things even when they said they would." "Also not really hating on sequels really though it might seem like I am. What I'm not liking is the feeling of sameyness that sequels tend to have where they add like one or two things and rebalanced the game. its still the same game except with the added features and balancing. what separates a just good sequel from an amazing sequel, in my opinion, is that the developers redefine a game so that it doesn't feel like your playing the same game over again (with the new features and blah blah blah). A Franchise where the experience is different for each game is what makes a amazing franchise. A good example of awesome sequels is Mass Effect 2, playing completely different form ME1 but still has the core mechanics that make it mass effect. Some of the stuff from E3 as well such as the New Tomb Raider and Prey 2 where you supposedly play as a bounty hunter (totally different from the Indian guy with the spirit powers) also seem promising."

  6. I bet it's the Forerunner. At the end of Halo 3, Master Chief was stuck at the stern (rear) of Forward Unto Dawn because the escape portal cut the ship in half when it closed. And, at the end of Legendary credits, the ship was drifting toward what everyone thought was a planet. I'm thinking it was the rear of what this thing was, and this trailer showed us the front side. There are a few theories: #1. Flood, #2. Covenant, #3. Forerunner, #4. Humans?, or #5. something or someone NEW! If we eliminate possibilities, the Flood was supposedly defeat at the end of Halo 3, we've made peace with the Covenant. The Forerunner were wiped out because of the Halo superweapons. But, 343 Guilty Spark mentioned Master Chief might have been a Forerunner. Another thing is that Master Chief was in Cryogenic deep sleep, so after decades and centuries, it could be the humans. I doubt this theory through. If Halo 4 is a new entry into a new trilogy, it's understandable that this is something new. I still conclude this is the Forerunners, because of Guilty Spark's slip of information and human artifacts on a planet in Halo Legends. The directors said that episode was canon. So, maybe...

  7. This is ridiculous. Microsoft seems to be turning into another Capcom-like enterprise that just recycles old IPs. Bungie isn't involved in the making of this and it suppose to be another trilogy with a Halo 5 & 6 on the horizon. Does the industry learn nothing from what is happening to the Call of Duty franchise? There "title every year" is just a printing press to cash in and Halo stopped being compelling after the first title. They are even trying to recash in on that title by making an HD remake. It's just so ridiculous.

  8. Bungie isn't involved, but 343 industries is. 343 industries is a collection of msot of the old halo team from Bungie, and its not just recycling old material or letting go of a franchise, this was planned when they wrote the novels and with the cliffhanger ending of Halo 3 legendary ending.

also, 343 guilty Spark did not say Master Chief was a Forerunner, he was a human, and humans are the "children" of the forerunners; after the missinterpretation of the human's actions over invading the forerunenrs territory to flea they flood, they ended up trying every defensive option available until only the Halo effect was possibly, so they wiped clean the galaxy of all sentiant life, band sent out stored samples and species back to thier home worlds to repopulate. and as an act of forgiveness, the forerunners made the humans the heir to their technology (which is the ironicy of halo, because the Covenant believe you are an affront to the forerunners, and they are the chosen people)

  11. I call fail, sure it's made by 343 whose team is comprised of people who have worked on the Halo franchise since it's birth, but Microsoft is in it for the money now though. Since Bungie is out (which means no more Marty) I feel like Halo 4 has officially become a milked franchise. They should have waited a while, personally I believe they should have waited until Microsoft's new console, let the franchise hide in the back for a bit, and then bring it back next-gen when people have grown weary of the remnants of Halo on this gen. I'm not buying it, I'm sure my younger brother will buy it, and I'll play it then, but I'm not going out of my way to ruin my fond memories of my previously favorite franchise.
